Talaq (divorce), means the dissolution of the marital bond.
Clear and unambiguous phrases of divorce:
Clear Phrases: These are the words that mean divorce and cannot be interpreted in any other way. ‘I have divorced you,’ or ‘You are divorced’
Ambiguous Phrases: Which may mean divorce but may have different meanings, such as the husband saying to his wife: ‘You are free’, or ‘Go to your family’, or ‘I have nothing to do with you’
The difference between the two types is that when clear phrases are used, the divorce takes place even thought the husband has not given his wife notice of his intention. In the case of using ambiguous formulae, divorce takes effect only if the husband intends it as he says these words.
